 This sought after position works across Windana’s 3 sites and will suit an experienced and qualified art therapist who desires to work in a not-for-profit environment.

To be successful in this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct art therapy sessions providing guided self-expression experiences to help adult and young persons’ program (12-21 years) clients recover from the harmful effects of AOD misuse.
  • Confer with other professionals on clients’ treatment team to develop, coordinate, or integrate treatment plans.
  • Customize art therapy programs for specific client populations.
  • Design art therapy sessions or programs to meet client's goals or objectives.
  • Instruct individuals or groups in the use of art materials.
  • Establish goals or objectives for art therapy sessions in consultation with clients and program leaders.
  • Write treatment plans, case summaries, or progress or other reports related to individual clients or client groups.

Mandatory for this position is a recognized Art Therapy qualification

This is a part time position paying $28.42 - $33.18 per hour depending on experience, plus superannuation, plus salary packaging (optional) which adds about 10% per annum.

Naturopath – Windana Health and Healing

 This exciting position works across both our St Kilda and Dandenong sites and will suit an experienced and qualified naturopath who desires to work in a not-for-profit treatment environment.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Provide naturopathic consultations and prescriptions to residential clients at Windana Youth Community House (WYCH) and Drug Withdrawal House (DWH)
  • Provide Naturopathic consultations to community members and ex-residents where appropriate
  • Facilitate groups at the Drug Withdrawal House (DWH) -weekly, and Windana Youth Community House (WYCH) -fortnightly
  • Oversee and support the nutritional program at DWH and WYCH via menu planning, menu review along with involvement in the kitchen procedures where appropriate
  • Assist the WHH Team Leader with other duties and projects where time constraints allow
  • Assist in the operation of the dispensary
  • Have experience treating substance misuse issues
  • Have experience working with mental health issues
  • Have experience working with a diverse range of practitioners and multimodality teams

Mandatory for this position is a Graduate Diploma or Degree in Naturopathy, 2 years’ naturopathic clinical experience, AOD, Mental Health or Youth clinical experience, First Aid Certificate and appropriate insurance and association membership.

This is a part time position (0.55 EFT) at $28.42 to $31.79 per hour, depending on experience, plus superannuation, plus salary packaging (optional) which adds about 10% per annum.

 The Windana Therapeutic Community is a longer-term, drug free residential rehabilitation program, providing opportunities for residents to change from previous risk taking behavioural patterns and develop lifestyles of self determined purpose.

 We are seeking highly motivated individuals to work across our residential rehabilitation facility in Maryknoll.  Mandatory for these positions is a nearing completion or completed Certificate IV in AOD.  Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing support for the needs of clients seeking treatment for their AOD use
  • Providing a supportive environment in which substance users can recover from their substance of dependence consistent with the therapeutic community model
  • Utilising brief intervention and motivational interviewing to assist residents in treatment
  • Providing a supportive and caring environment in which substance users can physically, mentally and emotionally recuperate
  • Ensuring office administration tasks are up to date
  • Liaising with other Windana programs and allied health and community agencies

We are seeking someone with the right approach and values to work in our busy reception area in St Kilda.  This role is never the same on any day and can sometimes be demanding, but is really rewarding.

The receptionist role ensures our clients have a great experience when they visit or phone our organisation. The role also undertakes administrative duties and related activities. Basically the successful candidate will be the linchpin of the team that makes the whole site work smoothly.

Previous admin or reception experience will be useful but it’s not essential that you have been a receptionist before, as we believe we can train you in those technical skills. More important are:

  • your great communication skills, including a good level of spoken and written English
  • your mature approach to all sections of society and a personal resilience
  • your ability to deal with whatever situation may walk in the door (and knowing when to seek help from the professionals around you)
  • your ability to multitask,
  • your ability to hold firm boundaries and say no at times

The Assessment Clinician Adult Residential Withdrawal Services reports to the Assistant Manager Adult Withdrawal Services and undertakes face to face assessments and care coordination as part of the adult withdrawal services interdisciplinary team.

The aim of this position is to ensure effective and efficient assessment and pre-admission coordination to clients seeking residential withdrawal and to facilitate referrals out for those clients not suitable for residential withdrawal.  This position also requires the provision of short term interventions for clients approved and awaiting Windana residential withdrawal services.

Qualifications required: 

  • AOD Certificate IV is essential and/or Bachelor degree or higher qualification  in a relevant field is highly desirable
  • Senior First Aid certificate
  • Minimum of four years working within the AOD sector

The Non-Residential Withdrawal Services are located across a number of metropolitan and rural catchments including Geelong, Berwick, Dandenong and Frankston/Mornington Peninsula.  These services are predominantly facilitated by registered nursing staff and supported by case workers and provide a safe, short to medium term withdrawal in the community.

The Assistant Manager Youth Withdrawal and Non-Residential Withdrawal Services is the Registered Nurse responsible for the day to day operational and clinical management of the 6 bed Windana youth residential withdrawal unit and the non-residential withdrawal services.

The purpose of the role is to lead, direct and coordinate interdisciplinary care for clients from referral through assessment, admission and discharge.

The part-time Administration Officer position is based at Windana’s Youth Community House (WYCH) in Dandenong.  The Windana Youth Community House offers a safe, comfortable residential withdrawal environment for young people aged 12-21.  At WYCH we work in conjunction with other services already involved in the case management of individuals.

This position requires a flexible, adaptable and capable individual, experienced in handling confidential and sensitive issues.  The Administration Officer shall provide the day to day administrative support to the Assistant Nurse Managers (Adult Withdrawal and Youth Withdrawal & Non-Residential Withdrawal Services) and to the Manager Withdrawal & Coordinated Care where required.

Senior Intake Worker

 The Senior Intake Worker has an organisation wide responsibility to provide overall coordination for incoming referrals for all Windana services.

The position reports to the Manager Business Development and Operations from an organisational perspective but has operational accountability to all clinical program managers.

The Senior Intake Worker shall provide the day to day clinical leadership in receiving incoming referrals and facilitating appropriate dissemination of these referrals to program areas.  The successful candidate will work closely with all relevant Withdrawal program staff and Non-Residential Withdrawal Services, Rehabilitation Services, Nurse Practitioner Candidate and residential services assessment staff.

To be sucessful you will need a Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience working within the AOD sector and a  Bachelor degree or higher qualification in a relevant field such as Social Work, Welfare, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Nursing etc, Senior First Aid certificate.

 Naturopath (4th year student or graduate) - Volunteer

Windana is a drug and alcohol treatment organisation offering client-focused life changing recovery programs. Our proven medical and non-medical treatment withdrawal programs help our clients to reclaim their lives. 

Windana Drug & Alcohol Recovery has the opportunity for a qualified Naturopath or 4th year Naturopathic students to volunteer at our Nar Nar Goon rehabilitation program as part of our Health & Healing program

This exciting opportunity will involve assisting our qualified naturopaths in an unpaid role of 4-6 hours per week on a Thursday, depending on availability.

The role will include:

  • The packing of herbal, vitamin and mineral dosette boxes for residents
  • Observing naturopathic consultations with residents of our rehabilitation program
  • Various other administrative and supportive duties to our Naturopath
