Intake and Assessment Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intake and Assessment Worker with relevant Alcohol and Drug experience to join our team located in Barwon, on a permanent full-time basis working 38 hours per week.

The Role
The Intake and Assessment Worker will coordinate all intake procedures, from initial enquiry through to admission day processes. This will include, managing the Barwon Assessment and Waitlist team, conducting Readiness for Change scales and clinical risk assessments, and liaising with external stakeholders in relation to supporting the client in accessing services. The role will also be responsible for brokering forensic clients and ensuring that VADC dashboards are completed accurately.

Responsibilities include, to:

  • Provide a service at the initial point of contact for external stakeholders and deliver an efficient and comprehensive screening service for individuals requesting access to services. This includes, ensuring that the comprehensive assessment has been completed fully by referrers, completing a readiness for change scale and clinical risk assessment.
  • Present all appropriate referrals to Clinical Team weekly. Process referrals accordingly following Clinical Review feedback.
  • Develop and maintain consistent and efficient referral pathways to treatment.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to provide transparency throughout client intake process, including timeframes for access to treatment. Develop and maintain effective relationships with sector services to ensure cooperation in the overall delivery of services to clients and their families.

Salary will be $37.54 per hour Level 4 – Pay point 1 inclusive of superannuation.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health or another relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience working collaboratively with clients with substance abuse issues and complicating comorbidities such as mental health, physical health, or forensic issues
  • Experience in Intake and Assessment, preferably in the AOD sector
  • Ability to apply a high level of assessment skills and a sound knowledge of the principles of clinical risk assessment and management both on the phone and face to face
  • The ability to prioritise needs of clients and to give the most useful and appropriate information, intervention or referral
