What is adult residential detox at Windana?

Our program supports people while they detox from alcohol or other drugs.

We offer a safe, comfortable space with daily activities that respect each client as a whole person with their own needs and goals.

The program is called “residential” because clients stay with us for their detox.

Who are the staff?

Our caring team in St Kilda include nurses, AOD Clinicians and other practitioners.

Each staff member brings a personal touch to make you feel at home during your stay.

Where is the detox program?

We’re in a large house in St Kilda (Bunurong Country), right next door to Windana’s Community Clinic.

The house has bedrooms (clients share rooms), a comfortable lounge, kitchen, dining room and rooms for sessions with nurses and case workers.

Outside there’s a back garden with exercise equipment and places to sit. We also head out and about on walks in the local area.

Here’s a gallery with some photos of the house and garden.

Top 5 questions about residential detox

Can I bring my kids?
We don’t have the capacity for children (including babies) to stay with us while their parent is in the program. However, there are other services available if you need to be with your children. DirectLine or your local Intake and Assessment service can help refer you to another residential or home-based withdrawal program.

Will I share a room?
Most likely – we have shared bedrooms.

Can I have visitors?
So you get the peace and quiet needed during withdrawal, we don’t allow visitors.

Can I smoke tobacco?
Smoking is allowed at certain times throughout the day.
