Paul Ramsay Foundation funds the expansion of Windana’s U-Turn men’s behaviour change program

We’re pleased to announce that Windana will receive $1.75 million over five years through the Paul Ramsay Foundation’s Dads on Track national grant round to expand our U-Turn men’s behaviour change program.

We are one of 14 organisations receiving funding through the initiative, which supports evidence-based programs that help fathers who use or are at risk of using family violence to change their behaviour and create safer futures for families.

This funding directly supports our commitment in Windana 2030: Our Plan for Impact to address the intersection of alcohol and other drug use and family violence through partnerships and integrated services.

U-Turn is Victoria’s only men’s behaviour change program specifically designed to address the intersection of family violence and alcohol and other drug use. Through 20 weeks of group sessions and individual counselling, it helps men take accountability for their behaviour and work towards change while addressing substance use, with the safety of victim-survivors and children at its centre.

This integrated approach responds to gaps between family violence and AOD services, where people’s needs have often been addressed separately. It recognises that addressing AOD use can support engagement in behaviour change, while maintaining that substance use does not excuse violence.

The funding will expand access to U-Turn for fathers across residential and community settings. It will also contribute to the grant round’s broader focus on building evidence about approaches that strengthen family safety over time.

Thank you to the Paul Ramsay Foundation for this significant investment in this industry-leading program. We will share more as this work develops, including how the funding will support U-Turn’s expansion and what this means for the communities we support.
