Windana's commitment to diversity and inclusion

Everyone is welcome at Windana, and diversity and inclusion are the foundations of the welcoming and safe services we provide.

Celebrating and respecting diversity in all its forms, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, diversity in sex, gender and sexuality, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, age and people with a disability are core to Windana’s values and vision.

We want to do our part to make racism, homophobia, ageism, sexism and other forms of discrimination a thing of the past, and are committed to providing a service and workplace that embraces and values diversity and inclusion.

Please visit our dedicated Reconciliation Action Plan webpage to read about our Reflect plan for communicating what reconciliation means for Windana, developing and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, and stating how we are translating this vision into actions at Windana.

Windana's Rainbow Tick journey

To demonstrate Windana’s commitment to inclusive and safe services for LGBTIQ+ communities, we are working towards becoming a Rainbow Tick accredited organisation in 2025. The Rainbow Tick is a national accreditation program for organisations that are committed to safe and inclusive practice and service delivery for LGBTIQ+ people.

The six Rainbow Tick Standards are:

  • Organisational capability
  • Workforce development
  • Consumer participation
  • A welcoming and accessible organisation
  • Disclosure and documentation, and
  • Culturally safe and acceptable services.

To guide this work and ensure it is truly embedded across Windana, we have established the True Colours working group made up of staff from every Windana location. We will also be working closely with LGBTIQ+ people who use our services, as well as the broader LGBTIQ+ community, to ensure they are guiding this important work.

Once we have achieved accreditation, we will be able to display the Ranbow Tick logo which confirms our commitment as an LGBTIQ+ inclusive organisation to our clients, staff and community.
