Innovate

Windana’s vision for reconciliation is a society continuously and increasingly shaped by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, histories and voices – in all their diversity.

For the sectors and broader systems that Windana operates in, reconciliation represents connected services making ongoing improvements to increase their cultural safety, and that community responses to alcohol and other drug harms, family violence, mental health challenges and social disadvantage are informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices. Self-determination is essential for achieving this vision – which is one reason we support Treaty for Victoria.

Through our business at Windana, achieving this vision requires us to live our values – in particular showing respect, pursuing growth and fostering connection.

Windana’s second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is at the Innovate level, building on the momentum of our Reflect RAP. It introduces new commitments that deepen our understanding of Windana’s sphere of influence and guide our efforts to advance reconciliation.

Endorsed by Reconciliation Australia on 29 April 2025, this plan outlines actions and deliverables to be achieved over a two-year period, concluding in January 2027.

The Innovate RAP – and the cover image on this page – shows the art of Hunter Dillon (Instagram: @worimi.by.hunter). A full description of Hunter’s artwork is included within the plan.

Reflect

Windana’s first Reconciliation Action Plan formalised and furthered our commitment to reconciliation, with actions across our sphere of influence between December 2022 and November 2023.

Our first plan was at the Reflect level. It focused on communicating what reconciliation means for Windana, developing and strengthening our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and exploring ways to translate this vision into actions in the spaces where we work.

The Reflect plan laid the vital foundations for us to develop our next Reconciliation Action Plan (at the Innovate level), as continue our reconciliation journey.

Our Reflect plan features the beautiful artwork of Dion Wait of @descendantartwork.
