Expansion into Regional Victoria

Recognition of the Windana experience in helping people toward recovery from drug and alcohol (addiction/misuse)

Windana has been appointed to operate a new 20-bed residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in regional Victoria.

The decision by the Victorian Government to invest in the Grampians region is in direct response to the increased methamphetamine use across the community and the need for locally based specialist intervention and treatment services. In announcing this new facility and the appointment of Windana, the Hon. Martin Foley, Minister for Mental Health acknowledged that “people recover faster when they can access treatment in the community”.

Windana’s appointment to lead this new facility, the result of a competitive tender process, is an important validation of Windana’s three decades of experience and commitment to providing the best possible, evidence based drug and alcohol treatment. The Grampians facility will draw on the deep expertise of Windana in operating a Therapeutic Community model of treatment and care that offers people choices to take their lives in a new positive direction.

The current facility in Eureka, will be refurbished to ensure it provides an optimum environment for the residential rehabilitation program for up to 20 clients at any one time.

Windana is a proven collaborator across the Victorian AOD sector. We will apply the same collaborative approach by establishing linkages and partnerships with local private and community health service providers and residents to ensure this facility responds to the needs and interests of local residents
