How do I get referred?

If you’re ready to get help for alcohol and other drugs, here are three ways you can get referred to the right service.

  • Contact DirectLine on 1800 888 236 (available 24/7) or at www.directline.org.au. This is Victoria’s main referral hub for alcohol and other drug treatment.
  • Contact your local Intake and Assessment service – Find the service on this list that mentions the area where you live.
  • Speak to your doctor or another worker you trust.

When you speak to DirectLine or your local Intake and Assessment service, they will get to know you better and help identify your needs.
This is when you will get referred to the actual treatment programs or services. You can tell them that you wish to be referred to Windana’s youth detox (withdrawal) service in Dandenong.

We also accept referrals from GPs (doctors), youth workers, etc., so please feel free to talk with a worker you trust about getting referred to us.

Client messages

Here are some words from young people who have stayed with us before. Whilst their life stories and experiences are as unique as yours, we’re sharing their voices as a reminder that you’re not alone and that positive change is possible.

“I am so glad I chose this withdrawal program. The amount of support you have all given me has been incredible… These two weeks have made me see how much I deserve a better life. I may be scared but that doesn’t make it impossible. Windana taught me that.”

“You’ve helped me to the next steps of recovery and also just general life with healthy eating and me recognising things about myself I never knew. I have taken so much out of this withdrawal and left with even more. Thank you so much for helping me get my life together.”
