What is Engaging Families?

Engaging Families helps families in Cardinia who experience family violence and substance misuse or mental health issues to access counselling services, case management, and parenting supports.

Delivered in partnership with Windermere, Engaging Families works with the family to:

  • Increase safety from family violence
  • Support with management of drug and alcohol related concerns and mental health
  • Identify your family’s unique strengths, needs, goals and the supports available in our community to help your family work towards them.

What happens in the program?

First we will get to know you and your goals during intake. We will work together to come up with a tailored plan that suits you. This may include:

  • Counselling
  • Care and recovery (making a plan that brings together the mix of services who can help in the areas you want to change)
  • Case management (working with you on alcohol, drugs, family violence and mental health)
  • Safety planning, family therapy and group work for family violence
  • Parenting support.

Who do we support?

This program works with families in Cardinia Shire with children under 12, who have or are experiencing family violence in addition to substance abuse and/or mental health issues.

Where do we meet our clients?

Engaging Families is a program especially forfamilies living anywhere in the Shire of Cardinia- so we can see you somewhere safe locally. We also work at Windermere in Narre Warren.
